US Youth Soccer has officially announced the formation of its Athletes Advisory Councils, which will bring together as many different perspectives as possible to provide feedback and ideas on our sport.
Eight individuals will be invited per council group, with the councils holding a one hour Zoom session quarterly. Those selected to serve on the council will hold a one-year term, and will then be replaced by a new group to allow as many perspectives as possible. Please see below for a list of councils that will be launching:
13U - There will be a council for both boys and girls.
15U - There will be a council for both boys and girls.
17U - There will be a council for both boys and girls.
US Youth Soccer also wishes to hear the thoughts of those no longer playing since recreational soccer is not prevalent in the older age groups -- which we are striving to change. There will be three more councils for those that are no longer playing soccer.
13U - One council with four boys and four girls.
15U - One council with four boys and four girls.
17U - One council with four boys and four girls.
Finally, US Youth Soccer aims to be as inclusive as possible, and will create one last council that represents the transgender population.
13-17U - One council of four boys and four girls.
The council meetings will be moderated by individuals that have played youth soccer at the elite level within the past six years, and they will provide each council with core questions while allowing the conversations to naturally progress.
